Finnish Lapland is the top of Europe, and in summer you fish under the midnight sun. From late May to late July the sun doesn’t go down, and it hardly gets dark before the middle of August. The rivers and lakes are clear and cold, holding brown trout, arctic char and big and plentiful grayling. All wild and native fish.
Finnish Lapland has some of the largest roadless wilderness areas left in Europe. You can go days without seeing another soul. You get in on foot over several days, by helicopter, or by floating a river for a week.
You fly to Ivalo via Helsinki, about an hour and a half from the capital. Everything is a drive from there, and Northern Norway and the Arctic coast are close enough for a day trip.
